PREBLE COUNTY RETIRED TEACHERS TO MEET APRIL 14, 2015
BENEFITS, INCLUDING HEALTH CARE, TO BE DISCUSSED
President Janet Crelin writes:
“I had contacted the ORTA a while ago about our
concern that Reid Hospital and their Dr.s are out of network.. etc.
As you can see below, this gentleman took it to heart and has explored options for our members….There are questions that I have for him, but it sounds good.
I have invited him to come to our April meeting because members have said they really like to hear about benefits...”
Jim Cain writes:
"My name is Jim Cain, AMBA District Manager – OH. AMBA is the Benefit Administrator for the ORTA.
I’ve been asked to speak / share the details of the ORTA’s Menu of Benefits at the April 14th,Preble County RTA meeting.
When possible, I like to let Member’s know I’ll be attending their up-coming meeting and available to answer both Benefit and Medicare questions.
Below is a short (revised) summary of what I’ll be sharing. ...
Many of our Members aren’t aware of Medicare’s (inc. STRS Aetna Advantage Plan’s) limitations. All too often, we don’t learn about these limitations until it’s too late and we’re burdened with catastrophic medical bills. Jim Cain, AMBA’s District Manager – OH, will be presenting to the Preble County RTA on April 14th, 2015.
In addition to detailing the discounted group benefits available through ORTA, Jim will be addressing and providing a possible solution (for many Members) that will resolve the issues of the STRS plans “Network” not having Physicians in Preble County / surrounding area. This should be if interest to all area retired educators. Please spread the word. This is a wonderful opportunity to generate interest and drive Memberships for your chapter. If you know retired educators who are frustrated and by the limited network of Physicians in your area, and associated expenses, please bring them along.
In brief, the ORTA’s has a Medicare Supplement option (traditionally used by spouses because the STRS Aetna Plan is so expensive for them) that appears to be your area’s resolve. The ORTA’s Medicare Supplement is a true Medicare plan (G or F). Plans G (lower premium for healthy retirees) & Plan F (slightly higher premium for those with medical concerns) are identical in benefits and are the most comprehensive Medicare plans on the market.
Plans G & F’s features include:
Additionally, the ORTA has identified where Medicare falls short and negotiated deeply discounted group rates to button-up these key areas of risk. A couple key examples include Long Term care (i.e. Home Health, Assisted Living & Skilled Nursing Care), Cancer / Heart or Stroke Treatment and Medical Transport. The ORTA’s Menu of Benefits also includes several Discounts our Members use regularly – i.e. Hearing Aids, A Travel Plan, Hotel & Rental Cars, Identity Theft and several others Jim will share.
Jim Cain will hang around after the meeting to answer additional questions. He’s also carved out Wednesday, April 15th and Thursday April 16th to meet with Preble County Members individually and / or with their spouses. If any of the Preble County Members would like to proactively contact me / get on my calendar, please have them contact Jim.
