Shelter Plus Care | Advisory Council

The Homeless Coordinator for Project Concern continues to coordinate community agencies offering homeless assistance through the Homeless Advisory Council (HAC) and the Dubuque Continuum of Care.  This Homeless Advisory Council meets monthly to discuss homeless issues and take action.  Representations at the Council meetings consist of landlords, housing developers church and social and human services agency representatives.  The Homeless Advisory Council serves as a forum for discussion, problem solving, and implementation of community decisions regarding homeless issues in Dubuque.  The Homeless Advisory Council meets on the second Tuesday of each month in the Upstairs Conference room of Operation: New View Community Action Agency at 1:30 PM.

 

The members of the Homeless Advisory Council meet quarterly for the Dubuque Continuum of Care (COC) Meeting.  The Continuum of Care is a planning body, facilitating broad community discussion, education, involvement and action to end homelessness in Dubuque County.  The Continuum of Care focuses on the broader needs of the homeless community and members strive to provide housing and services that address the range of homeless needs.  From homeless prevention to permanent supportive housing, the Dubuque COC works to ensure Dubuque service providers maintain a coordinated response to homelessness in our community.
